Our first guest speaker for 2012 at Cancer Support Basel will be Dr Ben Zylicz, from the Hildegard Hospiz in Basel. Dr Zylicz is a Dutch citizen of Polish origins, now based in Switzerland. He is a specialist in palliative care and spent 9 years at Dove House in Hull, UK. With his experience of working in both the UK and Switzerland, he has insights into the way palliative care is handled in both Anglo-Saxon and German-speaking environments and cultures.
We’ve had it in mind to invite him as a guest speaker ever since we met him back in the autumn/fall, and were impressed with his warmth, humanity and accessibility. Now we have a date: Thursday 16 February, 6.30-8 p.m. at the Krebsliga, Mittlere Strasse 35 in Basel. Dr Zylicz will cover a range of subjects, from the importance of good palliative care to the misunderstandings that surround the term, and take any questions you may have.
As always with Cancer Support Basel evening events, this meeting is open to all. Please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org if you’d like to come, and feel free to circulate the information to anyone else you think might be interested.
